Prominent World Poker Tour commentator Tony Dunst has taken down the third WSOP gold bracelet of his career by winning Sunday's WSOP Online Event #15, $500 NL Hold'em Deepstack on WSOP.com's MI/NV/NJ platform. Dunst topped a 2,435-entry field in an event that ran well into Monday's early hours, then posted news of his triumph to social media:
The latest WSOP bracelet for Dunst joins one that he claimed in a 2016 live event and another that he took down in a 2020 WSOP online tourney. This win was worth $134,887.58 and moves his career WSOP earnings to nearly $2.4 million. Dunst has also won three WSOP Circuit rings while moonlighting from his WPT duties, though he also has a WPT championship title to his credit, among $4.4 million in career live-event winnings.
Dunst also spent years as an online pro before securing his role with the WPT, which began with his hosting a recurring Raw Deal segment that aired for several years within WPT broadcasts. When legendary WPT commentator Mike Sexton retired in 2017, Dunst moved into the commentator's booth alongside Vince Van Patten, where he has remained ever since.
Dunst's self-confirmation of his win in WSOP Online bracelet event #17 comes well in advance of the WSOP's official posting of the results for the tourney, which will appear at some point later this week. Dunst claimed his win while playing as 'Panoramic', which he was able to re-secure as his WSOP.com handle after using it in earlier years.
Most of the final-table finishers in WSOP Online Event #15 have now been identified. The results are as follows:
- Tony Dunst 'Panoramic' - $134,887.58
- Leo Lombardozzi 'vevere' - $96,316.42
- František Jirout 'Dubious1' - $68,823.10
- 'RoyalQuadZ' - $49,199.17
- Alfonso Cammarota 'Vincent1020' - $35,392.72
- Andrew Kang 'rushmucchny' - $25,750.12
- Ryan Dougherty 'RyDo.' - $18,846.90
- Florian-Dimitrie Duta '2muchgamble' - $13,806.45
- Hiroki Yamasaki 'hitotume' - $10,190.47
Online Event #14 paused after reaching final table
In other news from the WSOP's MI/NV/NJ online bracelet events, Online Event #14 reached its eight-player final table and was paused at that point, to be resumed live at the WSOP later this month, where the winner will take down a hefty $278,712.50 payday. The current leader is 'jchak', with a 2.1 million stack that's more than double that of all but one of the other seven finalist.
The 'jchak' account is likely to belong to Reno-based pro and prior bracelet winner Jed Hoffman, who has used that screen name in earlier years. (Update: One finalist whose identity was supposedly known was PokerGO's Director of Live Events & Content, Tim Duckworth, who sat in sixth. However, that account ('timduckworth') was later outed as belonging to Shaun Deeb, with Duckworth contributing to the hoax, as the following showed.)
Duckworth, like Dunst, self-confirmed his great Sunday at the online tables:
The final eight players and their chip counts as they will start when action in Online Event #14 resumes live, fittingly, on July 14:
