Triton Poker is back with the second edition of its popular Cash Game Invitational – a high-stakes special event that will livestream October 1-5 from the Jeju Shinhwa World Resort in South Korea.
The first Cash Game Invitational was held in May of this year with seven days of nosebleed games on the Balkin Peninsula at the Maestral Resort in Montenegro. The inaugural affair drew a revolving door of poker’s biggest players, including Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonius, Dan Cates, and Elton Tsang. Tsang was the big winner after a week of play that started with $200K minimum buy-ins and increased to $500K.
Big names, bigger pots
The first edition was full of huge pots and brutal plot twists, perhaps most notably the disappearing act of Tony G after two max-damage hands against Tsang. Tsang quickly cleaned up two buy-ins moments before Tony G cut his losses and kicked rocks.
Another featured player from the first go was Adrian Mateos – a tourney pro who made a rare appearance in a televised high-stakes cash game. Mateos mixed it up in a pot with Paul Phua and ST Wang that unfolded into the biggest cash game hand of the Spanish pro’s career, and he sat down with PokerOrg afterward to break it down for one of our First-Hand Hands.
