Nine years ago, Will Kassouf was eliminated from the WSOP $10K Main Event in viral fashion when he ran pocket kings into Griffin Benger's pocket aces on Day 7. They each exchanged plenty of verbal blows, including Benger's famous "check your privilege" admonition.
Today, Kassouf is back and making another deep run in the Main Event. The same two hands came into play early on Day 6, but a reversal of fortunes fell into his lap nearly a decade later.
Ultimate preflop cooler deep in the Main
Will Kassouf raised from under the gun holding . Stephen Kehoe three-bet to 630K with
on the button. Kassouf four-bet to 1.76M and began his patented speech play. This article isn't long enough for the barrage of words that followed, but some of his greatest hits came into play.
- "I either have nine-high or aces, nothing else."
- "If you got it, you got it."
- 'You show me one, I'll show you one."
The list goes on. The verbal barrage wasn't needed to induce what he wanted from Kehoe, who moved all in for about 3.3M with his own monster hand. Kassouf called and was a huge favorite, and they both headed to the important runout.
There was no king to be found for Kehoe, who saw his Main Event run come to an end in 180th place for $60K.
"Come on, England!" yelled Kassouf. "Finally on the right side of it," he said.
Kassouff sits near the overall chip lead with 10.4M at the time of writing near the first break of the day.
