If you are trying to prepare for the World Series of Poker, you've probably been through several guides for eating healthy, saving money, and having a sustainable summer series.
It's all about buying the right groceries and preparing them in the best way with the goal of maximizing protein and keeping the weight off all summer long.
But maybe you're a traditionalist. Maybe you don't care about all of that. Was Sailor Roberts ordering a shake and a salad? Probably not and he did just fine.
You have plenty of options near the WSOP if you want to ditch the protein bars and eat whatever you want.
Eat whatever you want this summer
We've covered the best and cheapest hot dogs, and we've given you a few options for a quick dinner break. You can also dig in on our look at the best late night options. But sometimes you need pizza and candy and everything else, so here's our local look:
Pizza
There are a few quicker opportunities with the Horseshoe food court and Giordano's, which sits right outside the WSOP in the Grand Bazaar. You can grab a slice in the food court or sit down outside at Giordano's and you're doing just fine.
Some other options:
- Scarr's Pizza - Famed NYC pizza satellite at the Venetian Food Hall.
- Grimaldi's - Another popular NYC pizza. This one is at Palazzo.
- Pin-Up Pizza - Fast slices at Planet Hollywood.
- 800 Degrees - Wood-fired pizza at the Caesars Forum Shops. A quick, high-quality option.
- Secret Pizza - Hidden pizza gimmick at Cosmopolitan. Third floor. Not a secret.
- Pizza Rock/Good Pie/Evel Pie - Venture Downtown for the pizza places you keep hearing about.
- Domino's/Pizza Hut - Order it to the side door at Horseshoe. There's nothing of which to be ashamed.
Candy and pastries
You won't need to go far to get a big bag full of candy. There's a 'LICK' candy shop near the downstairs food court and an IT'S SUGAR right outside near the aforementioned Giordano's. CVS is also nearby, and they're going to have the best deals. If you're looking for something specific, or you've got a hankering for French pastries, here are a few options:
- International Marketplace - (5000 S Decatur) This giant market is a short drive from the WSOP and you can find a whole range of imported goods there, especially candy.
- Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream - Right outside Horseshoe.
- Tous Le Jours Cafe - (Chinatown) The French pastries sprinkled throughout Chinatown are one of the best kept secrets in Las Vegas. Tours Le Jours Cafe is one of many, but an unforgettable stop. You can also find a Paris Baguette over there if you want a $50 cake.
- M&M Las Vegas - Just down the Las Vegas Strip you can find a giant store devoted to M&Ms and M&M related accessories. A great spot if you want all of one color. It's near MGM Grand and you can find the Hershey's version across the street near New York, New York.
- Grandma Daisy's Candy Store (Boulder City) - Take a day and go to Boulder City. Eat at the Coffee Cup, buy some homemade fudge, and visit the Hoover Dam. It's the best.
Donuts and bagels
You may think that donuts should belong in the pastry category but you are wrong. Pastries are great but sometimes you're not feeling all that fancy about it. Here are some of the the best donuts in Las Vegas:
- Duck Donuts - Right outside Horseshoe you can get some classic fried donuts.
- Dee's Donuts (6441 Durango) - Worth the trip when you need to pick up a dozen or two.
- NY Bagel N Bakery (840 S Rancho) - Authentic bagel spot with everything you expect. Egg&cheese, cookies, and Dr. Brown's soda right out of a NYC bodega.
- Pinkbox Donuts - They're everywhere and a local staple for big weird donuts and everything else.
- Winchell's/Randy's - You can find several LA favorites throughout Las Vegas, as well, and they're all just fine.
Enjoy eating your way through guide and if you ever start feeling ashamed of your snack habits while on vacation in Las Vegas, remember that you are on vacation in Las Vegas.
