Every so often the poker world gets a glimpse into the inner workings of private cash games. Thanks to 'GlobalKenny' and his latest vlog, we've got a new lens to look through.
While the set up is by no means the pinnacle of the NYC private game scene, it's a compelling insight nonetheless. It's got all the right ingredients – frigid temperatures, a pizza review, penthouse skyline views, animated visuals, and a table full of rubber duckies. Oh, and plenty of wild action on the felt – including a pot that balloons well past the $60,000 mark, in a $5/$10/$25 game.
Check it out above, and stay tuned for Part 2.
'Lock the doors, dim the lights'
After spinning his initial $5,000 buy-in into around $60,000, 'GlobalKenny's' hand of the night arrives.
"If you've made it this far, lock the doors, dim the lights because you are about to witness the biggest pot of my career so far," he prefaces.
With the $100 straddle in play, 'GlobalKenny' raises to $200 from the small blind with . PJ, on his direct left, three-bets to $800 to force the third blind and straddle out of the equation.
"We're just going to go berserk here to be honest," 'GlobalKenny' says before four-betting to $3,200.
PJ makes the call and with $6,475 in the middle, the offers no improvement to our hero – but he reckons his opponent might have whiffed too and continues to tell a story with a $3,200 bet. PJ makes the call to bring in the
. 'GlobalKenny' fires again, $6,500 into the $12,875.
"Obviously, I am just praying for a fold so I can windmill these cards in his face, but I am prepared to unload the clip on the river if he does call," he narrates. "At this point, I've basically convinced myself that I have aces."
Again, PJ makes the call and the river completes the board. With his rivered top pair, 'GlobalKenny' opts to check – hoping to bluff-catch against worse hands – and PJ completes his half of the equation with an all-in for $20,000.
"I didn't check a rivered top pair to fold it against an opponent that is going to have more bluffs than he probably should in this spot," 'GlobalKenny' explains.
With a flick of the wrist, he throws four $5,000 plaques across the betting line for a call – only to see the bad news as PJ rolls over to claim the $65,875 pot.
