Alan Keating was a no-show for his $25K Heads-Up Championship match at the WSOP today.
He was set to play Piotr Krupas in his Round of 64 match, but come the start at 12pm he was nowhere to be seen. The match began and Keating's stack started to blind away.
Eventually, Krupas was given a bye to the Round of 32.
Keating was last seen playing in a high-stakes game at The Lodge Card Club, where he lost the biggest pot of the night and still walked out with over $1 million in profit.
As it turns out, Keating is still feeling the effects of that session.
We spoke with Keating to find out the reason for the WSOP no-show and he said, "I was tired from the Lodge game and have a suite for No Doubt at the Sphere tonight, and want to be rested for it."
$25K Heads-Up continues without Keating
The first day of the $25K Heads-Up Championship saw just eight players progress from the bracket of 64.
They included Michael Mizrachi, who defeated Phil Hellmuth in the big clash of the night, and Daniel Negreanu, who saw off Henry Castro.
Day 1B is still playing, minus Keating, with 32 players left, including Doug Polk, Patrick Leonard, Martin Kabrhel and Phil Ivey.
They'll play down to the final eight, who will join the eight survivors from Day 1A to make up the final 16 players returning on Sunday.
We'll have a full wrap of Day 1B when play finishes in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
