Will Jaffe praised Doug Polk and Daniel Negreanu for taking on this epic heads-up poker grudge match that we've all been waiting for. And that's a bit surprising coming from a poker pro who has been so critical of both players.
Negreanu and Polk are currently undertaking a 25,000-hand high-stakes heads-up poker challenge at the $200/$400 stakes on WSOP.com. To this point, more than 7,800 hands in, it appears Polk, who was heavily favored going in, is headed for a potential seven-figure victory. Yes, seven figures — more than a $1 million profit.
Polk and Negreanu have been feuding on social media for years, mostly with Polk verbally attacking his rival for various reasons, such as Negreanu's past connection to PokerStars.
Will Jaffe gives credit where credit is due
Will Jaffe has recently taken shots at both Polk and Negreanu. But he is now showing them both some love over the heads-up grudge match.
I know I've given him s--t and poked fun but @RealKidPoker deserves so much f-----g respect for taking on this challenge. Really cannot be understated," Jaffe wrote on Twitter.
"On the same note @DougPolkVids deserves a lot of respect as well, and Ive def given him s--t lol. But he really is one of the greatest poker players of all time and it's cool to see him back in the game doing his thing and really caring about it. What a f------g player" he continued.
Back in the day, Jaffe and Polk used to battle on the PokerStars mid-stakes games. He gave credit to Polk for advancing in his career to much higher stakes, whereas he continues to mostly grind the mid-stakes online games.
"I remember those days. Good times. Helped me build a roll to move onto the higher stakes. But I think at some point a progression every poker player needs to go through is to step away from trying to play the most hands possible and learn to play the best they can possibly play," Polk responded.
Jaffe is, or at least used to be, an intense online poker player. To rack up as much rakeback as possible and achieve the now non-existent elite Supernova status on PokerStars, he often played 24 tables at a time. Such is the life of an online poker pro.
During his earlier days from 2012-2015, he faced Doug "WCGRider" Polk numerous times. Although Jaffe's career hasn't exactly gone in the same direction as Polk's, who is one of the top online heads-up no-limit hold'em players ever, he's still had a successful career. He's now showing some respect to two of the most accomplished poker players in history. Game recognize game.
