Choctaw fever is in the air, with the WPT festival underway in Durant, Oklahoma this week. The 20-day festival culminates in the $3,800 WPT Choctaw Championship, which plays out May 3-6 at the Choctaw Casino & Resort.
Choctaw has been a mainstay on the WPT schedule for almost a decade now and if last year’s visit is anything to go by (every guarantee exceeded!), then 2024 promises to be a barnbuster.
There are 72 tournaments in total starting at just $130, with something for everyone including deepstack nightly tournaments and even an All-Casino Employee World Championship.
$2 million GTD WPT Championship
As with every series, the Main Event reigns supreme, and WPT Choctaw’s Championship event is a 4-day, $3,800 buy-in affair, boasting not only a $2 million guarantee but also a separate end-of-month televised final table.
Last year saw Jared Jaffee emerge triumphant at the HyperX Arena finale, securing his second WPT title and $400,740, as well as seeing his name etched once again on the Mike Sexton Champions Cup.
This year’s Main Event kicks off on May 3, with a second starting flight the following day, 60-minute levels and 50k starting stacks.
How to Satellite your way in
One of the benefits of a long series is that it offers multiple chances to bag a seat to the various big events on the schedule, and at Choctaw there are daily $130/$250 Super Satellites and $300/$400 Mega Satellites to the flagship finale.
The $300,000 Classic Super Stack also has satellites running, where for just $130 you’ll find guaranteed $1,100 seats to be won to the $300,000 GTD event.
There is also the $200,000 GTD Choctaw Classic, a $400 buy-in tournament that offers a magical bonus – a WPT $10,400 Championship Seat +$3,600 in travel expenses.
