For the eighth time in its history, the WPT Main Tour returns to Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. The Main Event gets underway at 11:00 am Central Time as poker players prepare for Day 1a.
The state motto here is "Labor Conquers All." Last year, it was the hard work of Chance Kornuth that led to him conquering all, besting a field of 787 entrants to take home $486,600. He beat none other than cigar-toting Steven Buckner in a heads-up match for the ages.
2022 WPT Choctaw final table results
Place | Player | Prize |
1 | Chance Kornuth | $486,600 |
2 | Steven "Cuz" Buckner | $320,000 |
3 | Ray Qartomy | $235,000 |
4 | James Hundt | $175,000 |
5 | Kristen Foxen | $135,000 |
6 | James Mackey | $101,000 |
Kornuth beat out Steven "Cuz" Buckner last year, who's already back in the field today. Buckner recently made a deep run at the WPT Seminole stop last week before losing a vital flip late in Day 4 to send him home early. "You give me 4 million chips there, it's all over," said Buckner that day. He gets back into the action to try to make another deep run here in Oklahoma.
The Choctaw WPT stop has become a staple on the tour since it debuted here in 2015. Today, the eighth iteration of the Main Event gets underway here in the Sooner State.
Today, on Day 1a, players will play 10 one-hour levels. Late registration will be open until the start of level 9 at approximately 8:45 pm. There will be a dinner break after level 6 at approximately 5:30 pm.
Once we've played our way to the final six players, that final table will be hosted in Las Vegas at the HyperX Arena on Friday, May 26th.
