The World Poker Tour (WPT) is heading to Texas for the first time in late September as the long-running, globetrotting tour descends on The Lodge Card Club in Austin for more than two weeks of tournaments.
The Lodge is perhaps most famous globally for its trio of poker celebrity owners, with players and vloggers Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen regularly promoting their joint venture.
Players in town for the WPT will be able to enjoy the company of Polk and Owen in a meet-up game on September 27, the first day of the festival.
WPT events will run from September 27 through to October 13, with the Main Event — with its $1 million guaranteed prizepool — running from October 9-13.
Seniors, Ladies and Freeroll events on the schedule
The $1M Main Event has a buy-in of $1,100, while the highest price tag on the schedule will be the $2K High Roller, October 12-13.
Cheaper events will not be hard to find, however, with most tournaments running at the $300-$600 price points.
These include the Texas Ladies Championship (September 28, $300 with $25K GTD), the Texas Seniors Championship (September 30, $300 with $25K GTD) and the Mystery Bounty Chaos event (October 12, $300 with $50K GTD).
Several multi-flight tournaments will also take place, with the $500K GTD ‘Half Milly’ flights starting on September 28, with a $400 buy-in, and the $250K GTD ‘Quarter Million’ flights beginning October 5 at the $600 level.
Other events will offer PLO and Big O variants, while a special WPT Prime Freeroll runs on October 7, awarding at least 10 seats to the Main Event.
