Seven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Nick Schulman fell short of an eighth title in the $10K 2-7 Triple Draw Championship late on Saturday night, finishing in third place behind Alexander Wilkinson's first WSOP victory.

Schulman has a habit of keeping players away from their first WSOP bracelet, but the final two sent him to the rail before either of them had to deal with the situation heads-up.

Schulman entered the final day of the tournament in the second slot on the leaderboard behind eventual runner-up Matthew Schreiber. Wilkinson soared from the middle of the pack to beat a table that also included 2021 Main Event final table qualifier Hye Park and Brazil's favorite son, Yuri Dzivielevski

Dzivielevski finished in sixth and Park in fourth, moving out of the way for a final-three confrontation between Schulman, Wilkinson, and Schreiber. Schreiber, who won a HORSE bracelet in 2018, has had a great series so far, finishing second in the $1,500 Dealer's Choice to kick off the summer and seventh at the $1,500 Badugi final table.

Alexander Wilkinson won his first bracelet in the $10K 2-7 Triple Draw Championship at the 2025 WSOP. Alexander Wilkinson won his first bracelet in the $10K 2-7 Triple Draw Championship at the 2025 WSOP.

Schulman is mortal

Three-handed play was tricky for Schulman. He fell behind early when Wilkinson made a wheel and then watched while the other two players took turns with the chip lead. Schulman remained a hard target, but he couldn't overcome a tough run of cards to survive for heads-up play.

The heads-up battle was equally frustrating for Schreiber, and it was over relatively soon with every draw bouncing the other way. The runner-up finish was good for $215,848.

Matthew Schreiber added another deep run to his 2025 resume. Matthew Schreiber added another deep run to his 2025 resume.

Wilkinson's first WSOP title comes in a format where he has already had two deep runs at the WSOP, finishing ninth in the $10K Championship in 2023 and third in the $1,500 edition last year. The $333,054 prize is nearly triple his previous career earnings, according to The Hendon Mob.

Hall of Fame next?

Meanwhile, Schulman continues to make a strong case for being one of the best all-around poker players of any generation, picking up his eighth cash of the 2025 series and his second final table. His first final table, the $10K 2-7 Single Draw Championship, resulted in his seventh bracelet.

The WSOP now turns a corner for the homestretch to the Main Event, and Schulman still has several opportunities to fire for an eighth bracelet. The 2025 Poker Hall of Fame announcement also looms, and Schulman is one of the favorites for induction in his first year of eligibility.
