GGPoker and Great Canadian Casino & Resort announced this week a new partnership which sees the online poker site – and new owner of the World Series of Poker brand – become the official sponsor of The Poker Room at Great Canadian Toronto.
As part of the exclusive partnership, Great Canadian Toronto will become the only destination in Ontario for World Series of Poker events, including WSOP Circuit ring events, with specific dates for the 2025 calendar to be announced soon.
The two enterprises joining forces comes at no surprise as Toronto's first-ever WSOP Circuit festival – held last spring at Great Canadian Toronto in collaboration with GGPoker – proved an overwhelming success. Across the 11-day schedule, more than 6,000 entries competed for a record-breaking $5.5M total prize pool, a figure which smashed the initial $3.9M estimate, and eight WSOP Circuit gold rings.
With the Ontario-based poker community booming, bringing the WSOP back to the region makes perfect sense.
