GGPoker built a massive prize pool for their WSOP Super Circuit Main Event, where 10,690 entries went into an online field that awarded an eye-popping $2.2 million to the outright winner.
Alan 'ContinUuUuUm' Goasdoue was the one to take the prize, with the Moroccan grabbing the big share from a prize pool that swelled up to over $17 million. He was one of a few known humans at the finale, which also included Mexico's chip leading Daniel Vicente and Pedro Neves.
From near the bottom to the top for $2.2M
It took a long time and many, many Day 1s to get there, but eventually the final eight met up for a livestreamed final table with Jeff Gross and Chance Kornuth on Wednesday. Vicente had the chip lead, followed by 'L JAHA' from Japan, while Goasdoue started all the way near the bottom in seventh.
Of the known names, Neves would eventually bust to Vicente in seventh when his ace-jack was no good against pocket queens. Vicente would hold the momentum with the elimination of 'JianguoNb' and half the table was gone in under an hour, but Goasdoue would take over from there. He'd bust 'Ditto1031' in fifth and 'L JAHA' in fourth before grinding out the others with a chip lead in three-handed play.
The final two would come down to the start-of-day chip leader, Vicente, and Goasdoue, who began near the bottom. Goasdoue had the advantage with 76 big blinds to Vicente's 31, and heads-up play would only last a few minutes before Vicente's ace-six went in against Goasdoue's ace-ten. A ten on the river did it and Goasdoue earned the International Circuit ring and $2,234,319. Vicente, for his troubles, took $1,722,308 for second place.
