Benny Glaser is having a summer to remember at the WSOP 2025. He completed an unlikely comeback to win the $2.5K Mixed Triple Draw and capture his third gold bracelet in just over that many weeks.
Glaser was short-stacked in three-handed play, all in for his tournament life many times against Schuyler Thronton and George Alexander, who each held sizeable chip leads over Glaser many times throughout the final table.
"I'm a fighter; I'm never going to give up," Glaser told our Matt Hansen in the post-game interview.. "I'm always going to be battling."
Glaser had an uphill climb for the majority of the day, but he stayed focused, took it one hand at a time, and never took his eye off of the prize.
"That was a really tough battle, and I doubled them up twice, and they both had chip leads for a long time; it really did feel like an uphill climb," said Glaser. "I kept trying to get my composure back, trying to focus on each hand at a time, and did my best to absolutely battle. It's three-handed, you're playing a lot of hands. You don't have time to worry about past hands."
That laser-like focus, experience, and undoubted confidence carried Glaser through a day of adversity and uphill battles en route to his eighth overall WSOP bracelet. A truly hard-fought battle and a pleasure to watch, Glaser certainly earned this one.
The Millionaire Maker field is set for Day 2
After four starting flights running all this week, the field is finally set for Day 2 of the popular $1.5K Millionaire Maker. A massive 11,996 entrants took part across all starting flights. Only 2,618 return for Day 2 tomorrow when all advancing players combine.
Those numbers amount to $16,545,483 in the prize pool. The exact payouts have yet to be released, but we expect around 1,800 players to make the money tomorrow, which will likely hit mid-to-late afternoon.
In a field this large, players take things one step at a time; the final table is still days away. Finding a bag on Day 1 is the first step. Step two is coming back to make the money; otherwise, it's all for nought.
Adrian Mateos wins 5th WSOP bracelet
Adrian Mateos won his fifth WSOP bracelet on Saturday in a hybrid event, the $3,200 NLH High Roller, that started online and finished live in the Horseshoe. With that win, he became the fifth youngest player to win five bracelets. Phil Ivey (28), Phil Hellmuth (29), Allen Cunningham (30) and Daniel Alaei (30) are the only players that have won five at a younger age.
Ten days before his 31st birthday, Mateos beat Alex Kulev heads-up to claim the $253,080 first prize. You don't want to face Mateos heads-up for a bracelet — he's never lost one. He started heads-up against Kulev with a big 4:1 chip deficit but came back to win the gold in style.
Brett Lim wins $1K Seniors
Brett Lim fought his way through a massive field of 7,575 runners to win the prestigious $1K Seniors event on Saturday. Heads-up took over two hours, but Lim found a way to land his first WSOP bracelet and, by far, his biggest cash.
Ahead of yesterday, his Hendon Mob profile totalled $15,790. It now reads $669,629, thanks to a massive $653,839 first-place score. Lim beat Elan Lepovic heads-up, with Lepovic settling for the $435,572 runner-up prize.
The $50K PLO High Roller nearly reaches the final table
In the four-card streets, 194 entries consisting of the game's best ponied up $50K to play in the PLO High Roller. At the end of the night, only 11 players found bags to come back and battle for the $2,146,414 up top. They've all locked up $147,738 so far, but no one will want to leave with that number come tomorrow.
Ding Biao leads the way with 11M chips in tow, good for 110 big blinds. Stephen Chidwick sits fourth in chips with 6.955M himself, plenty to work with for tomorrow. Chidwick was one card away from disaster when he flopped middle set against Alex Foxen's top set, but drilled the miraculous one-outer to make quad nines and send Foxen home in 20th.
