Today's Day 1C dwarfed the other flights in the £1,100 WSOPC Main Event here in London, with 340 entrants. Just 54 of them have made it through to tomorrow's combined Day 2, when the survivors of all starting days will rejoin the tables in the chase to the prize money. Joining them will be 31 Turbo Day 1D chip-baggers, from a chunky total field of 151.
The bubble is still a long way away, but the combined prize pool awaiting those who get there is £987,460. Payouts will be announced tomorrow.
The largest Day 1 field was dominated early on by Albert Sapiano, whose aggressive style served him well: he ended the day with 662,000, just behind chip leader Gaspar Neuman (pictured). It was tight at the top of the Day 1C counts, with Anthony Kennedy and Mingda Bi also within 23,000 of the chip leader (four big blinds).
Day 1D had one runaway chip leader at the end – Alex Andrei – whose 828,000 chips put him fourth overall. Closest to him at bagging time were Mohammed Asal (464,000) and Aria Sarkeshik (411,000), with UK pro Martins Adeniya bagging 390,000 and Maria Lampropoulou 261,000.
No one has bettered the performance of Day 1A’s leader Daniel Wong, however, and he will unbag the biggest stack tomorrow (1,080,000). Second overall is Trung Moc (926,000), third Rehman Kassam (833,000).
