The first-ever World Series of Poker event in Texas is the hottest thing ever and now the Lone Star State has a new record for tournament attendance.
The second-largest state in the Union lived up to its big billing with 1,709 entries and an eye-popping prize pool of $2,589,135 for the $1,700 Main Event at Texas Card House in Austin, where the WSOP is holding its inaugural Texas Circuit series. That prize pool more than doubles its $1 million guarantee and puts the series on track for what could be $7 million in total prizes.
The former record was $2 million 2022 Texas Poker Championship at Prime Social Houston. The buy-in was $5,300 and 468 players turned out for the event that was won by James Carroll for $455,860
Big turnouts set up WSOP return to Texas
Other big Texas turnouts include the $600 Mini Main, where 2,562 entries hopped in for over $1.3 million, and a host of six-figure prize pools that fill up the rest of the schedule after the First Lone Star Ring drew 901 entries at $400 apiece. And there's still more to go, with a back half of the schedule that still includes a $600 Texas Stack, a $400 PLO Double Board Bomb Pot, and the $400 Last Lone Star Ring.

Meanwhile, the last tournament on the schedule will prove to have an inaccurate name. A midday announcement brought news of the next WSOP Circuit stop in Texas, which has already taken its place on the schedule from September 10-21 at the Texas Card House in Austin. A schedule with Main Event guarantees and more news will be available soon.
We are on the floor throughout the rest of the WSOPC Texas Main Event, which is playing out right now with less than 50 players in Sunday evening's Day 2. The surviving players will return on Monday at 2pm for a Day 3 with a livestreamed final table. Keep it tuned with PokerOrg for live updates throughout the rest of the Main Event.
