The Triton Poker Cyprus series is underway at the Merit Hotel and Casino. This follows the Luxon Pay Mediterranian Poker Party and precedes the Coin Rivet Invitational as part of a month or so of non-stop high-stakes action in Cyprus.

The first event of the Triton series was the $25,000 buy-in high roller. The event finished up today, giving the series a high-profile start with poker legend Patrik Antonius taking down the event for $825,000.

This is Antonius's first Triton title and his win today carried him comfortably over the $13 million mark on his Hendon Mob page.

Triton Poker announced Antonius's victory in a tweet reading: "USD 825,000 in the bag. Capping off Event 1 of the Triton SHRS, North Cyprus: USD 25K NLH 8-Handed, hats off to Finland's @Patrik_Antonius for winning his FIRST Triton title!"

Final table action

While Antonius came out on top in the end, the star turn for the first half of the broadcast came from Ebony Kenney.

This was Kenney's first high-roller event, but she still ran over the table in the early levels. By the time there were five players left, Kenney was chip leader with a little under half the chips in play.

An unfortunate run of luck (as well as some brutally tough competition) meant she ultimately took fifth place, collecting $240,000 for her troubles.

Kenney is an Americas Cardroom Team Pro. So, the final table was a publicity success for ACR. As well as Kenney, ACR has another representative at the table in the form of Randy "Nanonoko" Lew who joined Henry Kilbane and Lulu Yang Xi on the commentary team.

Though Antonius started three-handed play at a serious disadvantage, he made an astonishing call for his tournament life against Fahredin Mustafov with just a jack-high. With his chip stack renewed, Antonius was able to bully his way into a solid lead for heads up play.

Mustafov is a regular at the Merit, with fifteen cashes there since the end of 2018. He ended up heads up with Antonius, and took home $557,000 for his almost inevitable second place finish.

You can watch the whole final table on Triton Poker's Youtube channel.
