Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Roger Hairabedian takes down another event
The European poker scene has just concluded its first major live tournament after the coronavirus pandemic took over the world. The event took place in one of the biggest poker arenas in Europe, King's Resort in Rozvadov, which has also been a regular host of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe for the past several years. The final event was the 2020 King's Resort $2,815 (€2,500) PLO High Roller, which ended up with a prize pool of $144,418, and which was taken down by Roger Hairabedian.
A total of 60 entries were registered for this event that paid to the top seven spots and crushing the guaranteed prize. Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Hairabedian defeated Christian Stratmeyer in a heads-up battle that didn't take long to conclude. He took home the top prize of $45,494 and the second place gave Stratmeyer $32,854. Other names who cashed in the event were Eric Lescot, Harry Casagrande and Jonas Kronwitter.
Day 1 began with only six levels of 30 minutes each, while the late registration was open for four more levels on the final day. New entries and re-entries kept coming in during the final day at a steady pace. One interesting participating came from Sergej Barbarez, who decided to join the tournament during the final day and lasted just one hand after being kicked out with Aces versus Aces and losing to Matthias Kribben’s trips jacks.
Hairabedian wasn't even a clear leader and the chips went back and forth during the first two hours of play. The attendance was double when the registration period ended, and 22 players remained in the competition.
