$500 becomes almost $120,000 for the poker pro
Another great night of poker took place yesterday evening as part of the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Series. Event #8: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout drew a field of 1,479 players for a total prize pool of $665,550, resulting in a long battle that developed across 11 and a half hours. It finally came to a close when pro player Alan "GladiusIII" Goehring was crowned the winner of the top prize of $119,399.67 and his first-ever WSOP golden bracelet.
Goehring has been a professional poker player for quite a while and his long list of accomplishments date from 1997 as he has accumulated a total of $5,346,961 in career earnings. He has had two major cashes throughout his career through two World Poker Tour titles (2003 $25,000 WPT Championship for $1,011,886 and the $10,000 2006 LAPC Championship Event for $2,391,550). However, this latest victory might pose as the most important one of his career. Goehring finished runner-up on a WSOP Main Event just behind Noel Furlong back in 1999, which, until yesterday, was the closest he has ever been to winning one of those golden bracelets.
The final table had other pro players fighting for the title like Ross "BlueTang" Gottlieb, who finished second, and took home $73,942, as well as Randy "StayAlive" Ohel, who finished in third place and cashed for $52,511. Robert "bustinballs" Kuhn finished fourth for a $37,803 prize. Other great players who weren't lucky enough to make it to the final table were Phil "lumestackin" Hellmuth - he finished 109th and cashed for $931.77, and Anthony "nowb3atthat" Spinella, who finished in the 75th place.
