Austrian pro earns $139,971 as the second of two major WPT500 tournaments concludes
The WPT500 series runs on a longstanding tradition of affordable buy-ins and substantial prize pools. The World Poker Tour moved the latest edition of the WPT500 online, with partypoker hosting the tournament festival from March 7-23.
The online version of the WPT500 featured a pair of $530 buy-in major events, and both of the tournaments drew big attendance and surpassed the guarantee.
The second of those two majors wrapped up Tuesday, as Austria’s Armin Rezaei took down Event #13: WPT500 Knockout for a $139,971 payday. That six-figure payout included $76,275 in first-place prize money, as well as $63,696 in bounties.
Rezaei topped a field of 2,601 entries to emerge with the win. That attendance pushed the final prize pool to $1,300,500 in what has to be considered a major success for the $530 buy-in event.

WPT500 wraps up with another guarantee surpassed
The all-online WPT500 Online Festival by partypoker featured 25 events over 17 days, with players competing on the partypoker international client. A pair of major events carried on the WPT500 tradition of massive prize pools at around a $500 buy-in price point.
Rezaei came into Tuesday’s final table as the tournament chip leader and rode that big starting stack to an eventual tournament win. Rezaei came away with the win over David Lopez Llacer (2nd - $101,524) in heads-up play to secure the championship.
Other top finishers included Gustavo Mastelotto (3rd - $54,392), Duff Charette (4th - $37,307), and Benjamin Chalot (5th - $28,454).
Aliaksei Boika (6th - $25,261) pulled double final table duty Tuesday, also making it into the final nine in this week’s GGPoker Super MILLION$ High Roller.
The WPT500 Knockout marked the second of two $1 million guaranteed tournaments in the online WPT500 festival. Event #1: $530 WPT500 kicked off the series, drawing 2,420 entries for a $1,211,000 prize pool.
That tournament set the tone for the WPT500 Online Festival, and the WPT500 Knockout upped the prize pool even higher.
Rounding out the final nine were Jeroen Van Dijck (7th - $17,226) Robert Svedin (8th - $16,807), and Gediminas Uselis (9th - $15,251).
