Ward takes down Super MILLION$ Week Main Event for $1,242,332

GGPoker Super MILLION$ Week wrapped up with biggest player pool in the 39-week run of the weekly Super MILLION$ High Roller.

Ben Ward took down the largest first-place prize in Super MILLION$ High Roller history, outlasting a field of 976 entries for a $1,242,332 payday. Episode 39 of the $10,300 Super MILLION$ High Roller played as the Main Event of the Super MILLION$ Week tournament festival at GGPoker.

The $10 million guarantee wasn’t quite met, as the tournament needed 1,000 entries to meet that mark. Tuesday’s final table still wrapped up the biggest-ever Super MILLION$ High Roller, however, with both first and second place taking away seven-figure money.

Runner-up finisher Alexandros Kolonias (2nd - $1,000,991) advanced to the heads-up finale against Ward before bowing out in second place.

Ward enters as chip leader and leaves as the champion

Ward came into Tuesday’s final table action as the tournament chip leader, sitting on a 61 big blind stack. Sebastian ‘Weizen’ Gaehl (59 big blinds), Kolonias (57 big blinds) and Krasmir Yankov (just under 50 big blinds) all came into Tuesday’s finale with sizeable stacks, making the Super MILLION$ Week Main Event anyone’s to win.

Wei Zhao (9th - $244,811) made it to the final nine, but was eliminated in the last hand before the final table. The Super MILLION$ Week Main Event final table started eight-handed as a result, with Zhao’s seat empty.

The heads-up duel for the championship came down to a pair of players that came into final table action with big stacks. Kolonias came up just short of his second career Super MILLION$ High Roller title, though the $1,000,991 payday marked his biggest ever cash at GGPoker.

Javier Gomez (3rd - $818,576) turned a $1,000 satellite entry into his biggest-ever cash at GGPoker. Gaehl (4th - $669,403) and Shankar Pillai (5th - $547,414) each earned north of a half-million dollars for their deep runs in the Main Event.

Yankov (6th - $447,657), fourth in chips to start the final table, ended up with a sixth-place showing. Episode 39 marked only the second appearance in the Super MILLION$ High Roller, with Tuesday as his first final table appearance in the weekly event.
