GGPoker upped the stakes over the weekend with the Sunday Million Super High Roller getting 58 entries. That put $1.45 million in the pot with seven players getting paid. This was far more than the much lower stakes $5k SHR event being held the same evening on the same site. Thirty-nine players coughed up for the $5k event.
It is perhaps indicative of the strange way in which the online poker ecosystem now works that there were more feet under the table for a $25k tournament online than a $5k.
Artur Martirosian, a regular on the super high roller circuit, took the bubble position. His 8th place finish netted him nothing but disappointment, clearing the way for "spaise422" of Croatia to min-cash for $74,413.
Rodrigo Selouan was the next player to the rail, followed by Ben Heath. That left one of the toughest foursomes in the poker world — Daniel Dvoress, Mikita Badziakouski, Isaac Haxton, and Benjamin Rolle.
Rolle was eventually to come out on top after a heads-up chop with Badziakouski. However, it was a brutally tough bout of four-handed play in which Rolle managed to knock out all three of his opponents.
Rolle joined PokerStars as a sponsored pro in August of last year and his site, Raise Your Edge, has partnered with his sponsors to create poker training content for Stars patrons. There are worse ways to sell your coaching than taking down tough fields on competing poker sites.
