Poker Brat can’t hang on to win his latest bracelet, but finishes in the money
The highly-anticipated World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Series has finally started and the first day welcome plenty of talented poker players, including 15-time bracelet winner pro Phil Hellmuth. The first bracelet has been awarded to the winner of Event #1: $500 No-Limit Hold’em, and the lucky winner was Jonathan Dokler, who has been having a great year. On the other hand, Poker Brat did not have a great game and, even though he was the chip leader for a short period, he fell short of the final table, finishing in 11th place.
Ohio’s Jonathan “Art.Vandelay” Dokler has been displaying nothing but a great game since January when he won the Borgata Winter Poker Open $5,100 High Roller for $100,829. Only two months later, he got his first WSOP golden ring when he won the WSOP.com Online Super Circuit Series Event #9: $150,000 GTD NLH Monster Stack 2x Re-entry, where he took $77,910 home on top of the ring. And now, he has earned his first WSOP golden bracelet by winning an event that registered 1,195 players and 520 rebuys for a total prize pool of $771,750. For his efforts, Dokler took home the top prize of $130,425.75.
However, most of the attention during the tournament was directed to Phil “Lumestackin” Hellmuth as he was on his own mission of getting his 16th bracelet. When there were only two tables left, he actually managed to build up his stack to become the chip leader; however, things didn't go smoothly for him after that. Due to a combination of a bad run of cards and some lost flips during crucial spots, Hellmuth saw his stack getting drained and got busted only two spots short of the final table.
