One of poker's most famed cash-game shows, "High Stakes Poker," is set to kick off its ninth season next week. The one-time late-night poker staple, now rebooted as a streamed broadcast, begins airing on Monday, February 21, 2022 as part of PokerGO's premium-content paid subscription.
As in previous seasons, "High Stakes Poker" lays on the star power in a major way. The all-new HSP Season 9 episodes feature Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, and others, playing no-limit hold'em at cash-game stakes of $200-$400 up to $500-$1,000. Fourteen episodes have been filmed for the upcoming season.
The initial hosts of the original "High Stakes Poker," Gabe Kaplan and A.J. Benza, return to the booth for Season 9 commentary. Kaplan and Benza were HSP's original hosts when the show debuted on the Game Show Network (GSN) back in 2006, and they returned to those roles when PokerGO brought the popular series back to life a decade after its initial seven-season run.
Brunson and Negreanu appearing on High Stakes Poker for eighth season
Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu have been among HSP's most popular pros, and both will be appearing on episodes of the show for an eighth season, more than any other pros. Both "Texas Dolly and "Kid Poker" will appear on the February 21 debut episode. They'll be joined on the show by Ivey, Dwan, and Antonius, plus a new face on the "High Stakes Poker" set: German pro and the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Koray Aldemir will also take a seat at the table.
Veteran poker broadcast producer Mori Eskandani, now the president of PokerGO, promises big things for the HSP's upcoming 14-week run. “Season 9 of High Stakes Poker is arguably the best season yet, and we cannot wait for poker fans to enjoy the game in its purest form at breathtaking stakes,” Eskandani said. “In addition to the star-studded lineups, fans will be pleased to see a revamped set that aims to capture the traditional authenticity of this legendary show and the return of $50,000 bricks of cash on the table. "High Stakes Poker" has also posted a teaser video highlighting next week's debut episode and. yes, the return of those bricks of cash. Each of the pros will be buying in for a minimum of $100,000. The Season 9 debut episode will be available beginning at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT), on PokerGO's subscription service.
