Almost $2 million was awarded in the $50,000 tournament
The 15-event Poker Master Online Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) series has completed its final Main Event with great success.
The series finale showcased a $50,000 buy-in main event, and this pricey tournament welcomed 29 players, adding $1,450,000 to the prize pool. However, the $1.5-million guarantee stood. Only the top four players in the event took home cash, which made it even more exciting. The big winner was the poke pro Isaac Haxton, who secured the top prize of $675,000 and the title as the champion of this event.
This major PLO event ran for two whole days and, by the time the action finished on the first day, there were only five players left. Based on the payout structure, there was only one more player to leave the table with empty hands, so the pressure built up facing the second day of the tournament. Haxton started the day strong and, since the day before, he had an overwhelming amount of chips - 2,804,854 chips at the beginning of the second day. To put that into perspective, the second-largest stack was in the hands of Grazvydas Kontautas, and he had only 847,705 chips.
The unlucky player who busted on the bubble was Andre Santos, who was sent to the rails by Haxton himself. After Santos was out of the picture, all players secured a minimum prize of $157,896. The player who actually took that amount, the next one to be busted, was Chris Kruk, who also played his last hand against Haxton. Also, Aku Joentausta, the player who finished third, was busted by Haxton as well; he took home a $225,000 prize.
