Malta Poker Championships coming next month

The series will be held online, just like so many events forced to move because of COVID-19

For poker players still waiting to find out more about the future of the upcoming Malta Poker Championships, they don't need to wait any longer. The highly anticipated poker event will not be canceled, but, instead, moved to online grounds. Due to the coronavirus, pandemic, most events that want to survive have had to look for online solutions, but this will most likely be the last live festival that is played online. It will take place from May 22 through May 27.

This Malta-based tournament series will feature its Main Event for €30,000 ($32,636) GTD. Other tournaments include a €10,000 ($10,878) GTD Hendon Mob event, as well as a Ladies "Queens of Pokio," which will be played in a mobile app. This series promises to include something for everybody and there will be tournaments with different guarantees and formats to please the many regular attendees of this poker championship. More details of the series will be announced soon, but this month, there will be several satellites available for players who want to try their luck into one of these events.

None of the tournaments will have a rake attach to it, which is a nice gesture given the current world situation. This means that nor the championship organization nor the online poker site that will be hosting the events will be charging any tournament fees. There is also another event that's being planned, it consists of a rake a tournament with its usual rake, but it will be destined to help the dealers who are currently struggling to pay their expenses due to the closure of all live poker activity.
