The record-setting success of online poker is going to see a new era of events

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is not yet ready to resume live poker events amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, summer can't be completed without poker action from the largest tournament organizer; therefore, WSOP has announced a new "World Series of Poker Online." This series will take place in two platforms and it is scheduled to begin on July 1 to replace the 2020 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, which was officially postponed last month. By the time it ends, 85 bracelets will have been awarded.

The tournament will run for some US-based players on and the best news is that the series is distributing a total of 85 official gold bracelets, which is close to the number of bracelets typically awarded during the live series at the Rio casino. The fact that this year's format suffered dramatic changes, the WSOP will be counting on its partnership with Poker Central to stream original content, highlights and WSOP episodes that will be aired on television. Additionally, Poker Central will interview the winners of the golden bracelet after their victories.

"It wouldn’t be summer without WSOP," said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the WSOP in Monday’s announcement. Stewart added that the organization is also thrilled to rest live poker after venues are being reopened, but great online poker action will be available to most players across the world. The only thing is that for the series taking place in for US players, only those in Nevada and New Jersey will be able to compete to get one of the 31 bracelets destined for this region. The other 54 bracelets will be distributed to players from other participating countries.
