Partypoker has announced the removal of some of its SNG (sit-'n-go) offerings from its global site. The changes to party's SNG offerings are designed to address what party describes as a "lack of liquidity" on the site.

The changes went into effect immediately, on August 27. These formats will no longer be offered:

  • Turbo 6-Max [18 players]
  • Progressive KO
  • Hyper 9-Max
  • Double or Nothing Hyper 8-Max
  • Triple Up 6-Max
  • Hyper 9-Max Triple Up
  • Hyper 6-Max [36 players]
  • Hyper 6-Max [18 players]
  • 45 Players – Turbo

By way of explanation, party offered this: "Our poker room management team continually monitors all of our cash games and various tournament poker formats and tries to keep liquidity levels as high as possible." Party also noted, "The removal of these formats should have minimal effect on you because the games were not as popular as our other SNG formats."

Partypoker also pointed out that the SNGs' removal wouldn't affect its popular "Spins" jackpot SNGs.

Rake increase in many remaining SNG formats

While many of partypoker's SNGs remain available, they're also going to be a hair more expensive. Party bumped up the rake across all remaining SNG formats, and at all buy-in levels. These are the affected formats, covering buy-ins from $1 to $1,000:

  • Double or Nothing Hyper 6-Max
  • Double or Nothing Turbo
  • Double or Nothing Turbo 6-Max
  • Heads-Up Hyper Turbo
  • Heads Up Turbo
  • Hyper 6-Max
  • Super-KO
  • Turbo
  • Turbo 6-Max

As with the removal of the other SNG formats, the increased rake went into effect on August 27. Party did not summarize the rake increases in a single table or post, but assured its players that its "rates continue to be competitive." Players can determine the rake at each buy-in level by checking any SNG offering within the tournament lobby.

In-client HUD remains a rumor

Partypoker has yet to address the recent rumors that a near-future client update will include an internal HUD (heads-up display). HUDs, which provide accumulated betting data on one's online opponents in real time, are among online poker's most controversial topics.

Party's possible dalliance with an in-client HUD came via its new Managing Director of Party Brands, Paris Anatolitis. In a recent interview, Anatolitis hinted that an internal HUD might be included in a future update. Anatolitis offered no specifics on such a rollout, however. The issue has not been addressed on the partypoker blog nor within any other official statement. That tease has induced growing speculation as to when or if a HUD rollout might occur.
