The poker pro shows off his talents at the WSOP Online Series
Pro player Scott "BudLightLime" Hempel was committed to getting one of the gold bracelets awarded to winners of World Series of Poker (WSOP) event champions, and he was successful in his task. Not only did he won the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo DeepStack at the WSOP Online Bracelet Series, but he also reached a final table during the event that was played the day before, where he won $181,060.
Hempel definitely improved his performance from one day to another and finally managed to put his hands on that precious bracelet awarded on Event #18. This event registered a total of 697 players, and it took only seven hours of play to determine the winner. His top-prize of $181,060 means that he made over $25,000 per hour while playing this tournament. Over the weekend, Hempel was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in payouts, which also allows him to compete for the $100,000 WSOP.com series leaderboard that will crown a Player of the Year award, although on a smaller scale.
Two things favored Hempel in his game. First, he got some great hands during the final table that helped him get rid of the opponents quickly. Added to this was the fast pace of the tournament, which seemed to have made things easier for him. The event paid the top 143 players who cashed at least $1,000, including two great names in the poker scene like Phil Hellmuth and Ryan Riess, although they fell quite short of the final table.
On Friday, Hempel played the $777 No-Limit Hold’em event for $22,250 after finishing seventh. Overall, he has to be happy with his results, even if he would have preferred to go all the way in back-to-back events.
