Prize pool ends up at over $3.8 million as more than 10,000 entries register
Online tournament saturation certainly didn’t prevent one of the most ambitious events on the GGPoker WSOP Circuit Online Series schedule from achieving success.
Event #11: $400 COLOSSUS played out in the middle of the series schedule, offering a massive $2.5 million prize pool at just a $400 buy-in. The combination of relatively low buy-in and indisputably high guarantee meant that the tournament had to draw 6,649 entries to avoid an overlay.
GGPoker players had to look elsewhere to find any kind of free money in the payout structure, however. The COLOSSUS drew 10,166 entries, generating a $3,822,416 prize pool.
With the actual prize money exceeding the guarantee by more than a 1.5x factor, the top of the payout ladder awarded six-figure paydays to each of the top six tournament finishers. ‘PDC Mayor’ came away as the official COLOSSUS champion, earning $330,507 and a WSOP Circuit Ring.
A three-deal among the last remaining players flattened the payouts at the top of the ladder. ‘TooStonedMonkey’ (2nd - $342,129) actually took the biggest payout in the tournament, but lost out on the Circuit Ring.

$400 COLOSSUS produces one of the biggest prize pools in WSOP Circuit history
The WSOP Super Circuit Online Series currently sits at about the halfway point of its 18-event schedule. The GGPoker-hosted online festival kicked off May 1 and runs through May 30.
While official WSOP Online bracelet events for 2021 don’t begin until July 1, the Super Circuit Series certainly exudes a WSOP feel so far. While most of the 18 events come with the trademark affordable WSOP Circuit buy-ins, GGPoker went big and ambitious with the guarantees for those tournaments.
The $400 COLOSSUS didn’t disappoint, as the two-day event drew the biggest prize pool of any tournament so far in the Super Circuit Online Series. Through ten events, the series has crowned six-figure champions in six tournaments so far.
The 10,166 entries trimmed down to 1,438 players by the start of Sunday’s Day 2 action. Of that field, 1,100 players ended up with at least a minimum cash of $1,000.
While the COLOSSUS nearly hit the $4 million prize pool mark, an even bigger tournament awaits players at the end of the Super Circuit Online Series Schedule.
The $525 buy-in Main Event begins today, with the first of more than 60 different Day 1 flights kicking off at GGPoker. The tournament offers a $5 million guarantee and could draw the biggest attendance in WSOP Circuit Main Event history.
