The move to an online format for the series proved to be highly lucrative

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has offered plenty of online poker action since the coronavirus pandemic halted every live poker event running across the world. The biggest live poker tournament organizers in the world launched several online events, but the WSOP Super Circuit Online Series was the first one ever available to players outside of the US. This series closed with great success after nearly a month in which players had the opportunity to win one of the 18 WSOP Circuit gold ring events in a series that promised over $100,000,000 in prize money.

After the series concluded, WSOP reported that there was a great acceptance from players, as well as great performances in every event. This championship also had a marketing component as the initial part of a big advertisement push. The WSOP Super Circuit Online Series can now claim to have the largest guarantee ever placed on an online poker series.

The overall success of the event made the $100 million guarantee to reach 30% more than expected - it was officially $102,365,000. The grand total in prize money was reported at $134,706,274, and the series granted the 18 rings through a massive schedule of 516 events that registered a total of 485,851 entries.

Virtually all of the events offered great guarantees; however, most of the attention was directed to the 18 WSOP Circuit events. They accounted for a total of $28 million of the initial guaranteed offer, but ended up distributing over $46 million.
