Event #22 of the 2021 WSOP is the $10,000 LADIES No-Limit Hold’em Championship tournament. This four-day event began on October 11 with 60-minute levels throughout. The buy-in was discounted to $1,000 for female players, structured this way to disincentivize male players from entering.
Lara Eisenberg began the final day of the event as the shortest stack still standing among the five women at the final table. But after she doubled through Mikiyo Aoki with ace-king to Aoki’s ace-queen, Eisenberg gained the chip lead and the rest was history. She won the event and came away with her first WSOP gold bracelet and the event's first-place prize of $115,694.
Before this event, Eisenberg had 15 WSOP cashes to her name, including a win at an $1,125 No-Limit Hold’em WSOP Circuit event in Iowa in 2019. That win gave her a $28,199 payout and a circuit ring. However, after her 2021 WSOP win, she told us that circuit win didn't come close. “Winning a bracelet feels so surreal,” the pro player said. “There were some super tough women and yet everyone was so friendly and supportive. It was an amazing event!”
The 2019 Ladies No-Limit Hold’em tournament drew 968 entries to build a total prize pool of $871,200. Jiyoung Kim won her first WSOP bracelet and the tournament’s first-place prize of $167,308 on just her second WSOP cash ever. Kim stated after the tournament that she would be gifting all of her winnings to her mother.
