Event #33 of the 2021 WSOP is the $800 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack tournament. This three-day event allowed for one re-entry, and drew plenty of attention since it was scheduled on the same weekend as the popular MONSTER STACK tournament. Blind levels were played at 30 minutes throughout the event.
Israel's Ran Koller nabbed his first ever WSOP gold bracelet when he won the Deepstack event. Koller's first Word Series of Poker victory netted him $269,478. He secured it by sending fellow Israeli player Ran Ilani to the rail for the win.
Koller's triumph comes close to quadrupling his career WSOP earnings, which stand at about $375,000. Koller benefited from a final-table heater that slingshotted him to the lead in the event's finale, translating to the win. "It was surreal," he told reporters shortly after he dominated a big field of 2,778 other players.
Robert Mitchell won the $800 8-Handed No Limit-Hold’em Deepstack event in 2019 to earn his first WSOP bracelet and a first-place prize of $297,537. The tournament drew 2,808 entries to generate a prize pool of $1,999,296. Mitchell clinched the tournament with pocket aces on his final hand against Marco Bognanni.
