Event #40 of the 2021 WSOP is the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship tournament. This four-day event started with 60-minute blind levels and a 60,000 chip starting stack on October 20, and continued with 90 minute levels from October 21-23. It is the second most expensive of the four H.O.R.S.E. tournaments on the schedule in 2021.
Ohio native Kevin Gerhart is now the most recent player to become a WSOP triple bracelet winner club after scoring the win in this tournament. Gerhart dominated most of the action on Day 4 in an shortened five-player finale streamed by WSOP partner PokerGo.
Gerhart’s victory in the H.O.R.S.E. championship sealed his third straight year in a row taking home WSOP gold. His first bracelet dropped in 2019 in a $1,500 Razz event. The player added a PLO 6-Handed bracelet in the domestic segment of the 2020 WSOP Online series.
Greg Mueller won this prestigious event in 2019 to earn his third career WSOP gold bracelet and a top prize of $425,347. The tournament had 172 entries to build a total prize pool of $1,616,800. The stacked final table included Dario Sammartino, Scott Clements and Phil Galfond.
