Event #56 of the 2021 WSOP was the $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship. This elite short-handed event began at 3 pm on Friday, October 29 and ran for four full days. Players had unlimited re-entry, and registration remained open until the start of Day 2 play.
Prominent Las Vegas pro Ben Yu won the $10,000 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship. "B.Y.U."'s scored his fourth career World Series of Poker bracelet victory in the tournament. All his bracelets have come in the last six live WSOP series.
Yu came away with $721,453 after sending his final remaining rival to the rail, Nikita Kuznetsov of Russia. That was in the early hours of play on Monday, November 1, the continuation of Sunday's extended Day 3 finale. Yu began the day in the middle of a pack of 19 players who outlasted the event's 329-entry field. By the time Yu had made it to the six-player final table, he was the short stack. From there, he blasted through the remaining field to score the win.
The six-max championship drew a few hundred players, including both short-handed specialists and a large percentage of big-name, multi-format pros. San Diego’s Anuj Agarwal is the event’s reigning champion. In 2019, he topped a 274-entry field to earn his first bracelet and his largest-ever poker payday, $630,747.
