The Return of the Borgata Winter Poker Open

The Borgata Winter Poker Open returned to the poker schedule this week after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The player-friendly series always featured huge guarantees, multiple Day 1 flight events and one of the larger main events in the Northeast. The 2024 return features an $800 Kick Off event with $2 million guaranteed, the popular Almighty event and a $5,300 Main Event with $3 million guaranteed.

The 2024 BWPO features a total of $10 million in guarantees across 42 events – with 20 on the Main Event schedule and 22 on the qualifier schedule. Right out of the gate Event #1 has five starting flights, with the final chance to jump in on Day 1E on Thursday, January 4th at 11 am. The final table is scheduled for the live stream on Saturday, January 6th at 1 pm.

Signature events

Event #5: $500 Almighty Million Event has $1 million guaranteed and five starting flights beginning on Sunday, January 7th at 11 am. It’s also a three-day event with a live streamed final table.

Right after that is Event #6: King of Poker Progressive Shootout Bounty event. The $200 buy-in features two rounds of a Shootout format and the third round as a MTT. Round 2 winners earn a $100 bounty and Round 3 players earn $500 bounties. The winner also earns a seat to the BWPO Main Event and custom trophy.

The other $2 million guaranteed event on the schedule is the $2,200 Half a Milly Mystery Bounty event with three starting flights beginning on Sunday, January 14th at 11 am. Once 15% of the field remains, bounties come into play with a $500,000 envelope up for grabs. A $250,000 bounty will be included if the field crosses 2,000 entries among the $100,000, $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 bounties.

Main event has $3 million guarantee

The festival is capped off with a $5,300 Main Event with $3 million guaranteed. Two starting flights kick off Sunday, January 21st and Monday, January 22nd at noon with unlimited re-entry allowed through the first ten levels of play. Day 1s are scheduled for eight levels, so players can register on Day 2. It’s a five-day event with the final table live streamed on Friday, January 26th at 1 pm.

Live stream action

On top of all of the tournament action on the Borgata live stream, there are four special events for cash game players. The first is a 2/5 No Limit Hold’em night on Friday, January 5th from 6 pm – midnight. Players will be drawn at random from registered players in the $2/$5 games on January 3-4.

Then a $1,000 buy-in Ladies Pink Chip night with an all-female lineup on January 13th. On Friday, January 19th is a $2,000 Pot Limit Omaha night with players drawn from the PLO championship event. Finally, a $10,000 High Roller Big Buy-In night runs on Thursday, January 25th.
