The former poker pro is making a return to the game and will be part of WPT’s training team

Vanessa Selbst is returning to the world of poker, not only to play again, but also to teach others how to play poker. This pro player is one of the most successful in the world and decided to come back after retiring back in 2017 to use her great skills in a different industry. She will also teach poker via the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) official learning platform called LearnWPT.

Back in 2017, Selbst decided to leave poker behind after recognizing her knowledge in the field of risk analysis and positive expected value bets could be better used in another market. She decided to start working for a successful hedge fund and put her skills to good use, where she had great success in making calculated investments by analyzing macroeconomics and taking into account events happening in the world.

More recently, Selbst started a family, which also means a change in her priorities. That's why she turned to poker as an activity that could bring her more flexibility. She was quick to return to poker action as she took part in the WPT Borgata Poker Open last September and had another great run during the WPT Fallsview Main Event in February 2020. As an experienced live poker pro, this might not be the ideal time to return because there isn't much poker going on around the world; however, there are plenty of online tournaments and cash games available, which Selbst has said to be interested in participating in.
