The World Series of Poker and software developer Playtika have announced the rollout of the "WSOP Thrill Team", a lineup of seven famed poker pros with ties to the WSOP, as part of the tenth-anniversary celebration of the WSOP's free-to-play mobile app.

The new WSOP Thrill Team features five American and two European pros, including the most recent WSOP Main Event winner, Norway's Espen Uhlen Jørstad. Jørstad is joined by Finnish great Patrik Antonius, along with Americans Vanessa Selbst (a three-time bracelet winner), Adam Hendrix, Landon Tice, Samantha Abernathy, and Ethan "Rampage" Yau.

Abernathy and Yau notably gained much of their early knowledge of the game by playing on the WSOP's free-to-play offering, which can also be accessed online at https://www.playwsop.com/.

The "Thrill Team" rollout coincides with an upgrade to the app and site that includes several added features. The site's giveaways and special-feature rollouts will continue through 2023, including some promotional efforts at this summer's WSOP in Vegas.

According to Guy Cedar, General Manager of the WSOP free-to-play-app, “Making it to the World Series of Poker is playing in the big leagues, so as the official WSOP app, we are honored to bring that same thrill and excitement to players everywhere. Our online community is a daily celebration of the camaraderie and good-natured competition found around a poker table and we are proud to have played a role in fueling the game’s explosive growth.”

Abernathy commented on how the app helped her during her formative poker years. “I have the WSOP app to thank for introducing me to the game of poker and providing a forum where I could fearlessly compete with others for free while still learning both the most basic and advanced strategies to win," she said. This all-star Thrill Team is a reflection of the diversity you’ll find at poker tables around the world, virtually and in-person, and proof to never underestimate the player across from you.”
