The 2024 PokerGO Tour PLO Series continues to be dominated by a pair of top Finnish PLO pros. On Thursday, Event #2 winner Eelis Parssinen rose from a short-stacked fifth place to first at the Day 2, live-streamed finale in Event #8 of the PGT PLO festival, Event #8: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha, for his second win of the series.

In doing so, Parssinen joined fellow Finn Samuli Sipila in becoming a double winner in the 2024 edition of the PokerGO Tour's PLO-only festival. The two players have combined to win eight of the ten events completed to date. Parssinen's latest triumph was worth $348,600, the largest official payday of the series so far, and pushed Parssinen just ahead of Sipila atop the series-long leaderboard.

Short stack to title for Parssinen

Parssinen began Day 2 with a small fifth-place stack of 855,000, well behind leader Alex Foxen's 3,695,000 total that topped the six survivors of Wednesday's Day 1 action. Parssinen briefly dipped into last place when Erik Seidel landed an early double, but from there it was Parssinen's day.

The finale turned into a three-way battle between Parssinen, Foxen, and Argentina's Michael Duek. Each of the three took at least one turn in the lead, though Duek busted in third not long after Foxen doubled through him to re-take the lead. Parssinen ended Duek's run when his flopped two pair ran into Parssinen's better two, which Parssinen spiked with a king on the turn.

That gave Parssinen a narrow edge entering heads-up play against Foxen, and Parssinen moved way ahead when he snapped off a big river bluff by Foxen soon after. Foxen, though, battled back with two double-ups to again move ahead, but only briefly. Parssinen notched his own double-up moments later, then finished off Foxen in a hand where Parssinen made top two pair to take the last of an all-in Foxen's chips.

Event #8 drew 83 entrants and generated a $1,245,000 prize pool. The top 12 finishers earned money in the event.
