On Sunday, Finland's Samuli Sipila earned the largest winner's payout collected to date in the 2024 PokerGO Tour PLO Series. Sipila pocketed a career best $240,300 in winning Event #4 of the series, $10,100 PLO.

Sipila's first-ever PGT title, which was also his first-ever six-figure cash, pushed him well over the million-dollar mark in career live-event winnings. He also became the second Finnish winner in four completed events to date in the PGT PLO series, joining Event #2 champ Eelis Parssinen in collecting a trophy in the series.

Knockout sweep for Sipila at final table

Sunday's Day 2 action at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas found Sipila starting in second place behind American Arthur Morris, who held a healthy chip lead after a strong Day 1 session on Saturday. The Sunday session, though, was all Sipila, as he sent all five of his opponents to the rail in his march to the victory.

Sipila picked off four of his five bustouts on his way to building a dominant lead entering heads-up play, with the last of those four knockouts being that of Morris, who finished third for $111,250. That left only the US's Stefan Christopher in Sipila's path, but then Christopher doubled up in four consecutive hands to rocket into the lead.

Sipila regained the lead with his own double-through, then closed out the win in a classic spike-and-re-spike hand. Christopher moved his last chips in with K-J-7-6, but was behind Sipila's A-J-J-7. An 8s-7s-3h flop left no flushes possible and kept Sipila's jacks ahead, but a six on the turn gave Christopher two pair. The river brought a three, however, pairing the board, giving Sipila a better two pair and the win. Christopher, a cash-game PLO specialist, also earned a career best $155,750 for the runner-up finish.

The winner's payday in the first $10K event of the PGT PLO series also provided Sipila with the most leaderboard points of the series to date, moving him well past Allan Le and into the series lead with six events remaining. Event #4 amassed an $890,000 prize pool from its 89 paid entries, and the final 13 players reached the money in Saturday's evening action.
