Local Vegas Valley casino Green Valley Ranch will reopen its poker room later this year, returning to the market for the first time since closing during the COVID pandemic in 2020.
News of the room's reemergence was scooped by John Mehaffey at Vegas Advantage after months of rumors behind the scenes. The new room — part of a $200 million property remodel — will return to the original space it occupied before the closure (seen above), adding new tables, chairs, and TVs. It's currently a non-smoking slots room, located just steps away from the sportsbook. The previous room held 22 tables, but this one will carry 16.
There is no official word on the reopening date, but Mehaffey said December is the most likely month.
GVR third room to reopen
Cash games and tournaments will return, but no update on the regular Saturday morning $50 daily tournament that ran at Green Valley Ranch for years before the room closed.
Green Valley Ranch will be the 20th live poker room in the Vegas Valley, and the only room in suburban Henderson. Another room, Poker Palace in North Las Vegas, will close at the end of this month, bringing the total number back to 19. GVR joins Caesars and Planet Hollywood in returning to the poker scene after both closed during the pandemic.
Planet Hollywood reopened earlier this year in a new space with a new look, while Caesars is working its way through a multi-phased remodel plan.
