The Tournament of Champions is one of the most unique events in poker as the WSOP gives any winners from bracelets or rings, live or online the chance at a freeroll amongst all other champions from the season.
This year’s Tournament of Champions (TOC for short) gathered 741 players and has played down to only seven remaining who are aiming for the $200,000 top prize.
Let’s take a look at the final seven and how they each gained their spot in the TOC.
- Wissam Gahshan, Glendora, CA. (Chip Leader 5,130,000) – Ring winner in December 2022 at the series stop at the Bicycle Casino in LA in Event #1: $500 No-Limit Hold’em Mammoth 35k for $26,470.
- Patrick White, Pearl River,NY. (3,885,000) – Two rings won in March a few days apart at the Turing Stone series stop in Event #4: No-Limit Hold’em Seniors for $25,406 and Event #10: $400 No-Limit Hold’em for $29,461.
- Kenneth “Brent” Gregory, Adrian, MO. (3,400,000) – Ring winner in March at the Tulsa series stop in Event #7: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Double Stack for $22,033.
- Justin Hotte-McKinnon, Ottawa, Canada. (2,700,000) – Online ring winner in WSOP.ca circuit in March in Event #6: $365 Giant No-Limit Hold’em for $22,804.
- Hunter McClelland, Ramey, PA. (2,700,000) – Two rings win in online events. WSOP.com circuit in March in Event #8: $25,000 NLH PKO Deepstack for $8,092 and then in May in Event #5: $40,000 NLH Mystery Bounty 8-Max for $16,961.
- Ronnie Day, Fairborn, OH. (2,300,000) – Ring winner recently in the last stop of the circuit season in Souther Indiana a couple of weeks ago in Event #6: $400 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack for $46,374.
- Barry Schultz, Cordova, TN. (2,005,000) – Ring winner in Tunica series stop in January in Event #14: $300 Seniors Event for $15,419.
A win here for any of these players would be a massive result for their careers as the TOC has done just as intended by giving ring winners a shot at bracelet glory! Play gets underway at 4 pm local time
