Shiina Okamoto has added another title to her fast-growing resumé after she won the Women’s event at EPT Barcelona.

It continues her incredible record in women’s events that hit new heights at the WSOP this summer. Okamoto won the big-field WSOP Ladies event for the second time in consecutive years, after finishing as runner-up in 2023.

Okamoto also finished third in the High Roller event at the recent PokerStars Women’s Summer Festival and looked like the favorite for much of the final table.

The win in Barcelona marks her first PokerStars spade trophy, and it came in the €550 buy-in event that attracted 126 entries. Okamoto beat out two French women, Scarlett Hostein (third) and Marina Mendy (second), to claim her eighth title overall.

Talking to PokerOrg earlier in the summer, Okamoto explained why she thinks she enjoys so much success in women's events.

"When it comes to the [WSOP] Ladies event, I believe I have a strong ability to read women's emotions," Okamoto said. "I understand not only how to sense those feelings but also how to influence decision-making at the table. That's probably why I tend to perform better in women's events."

Okamoto unveiled as new GTOWizard ambassador

It's been a standout week for Okamoto.

She also cashed in the PokerStars Open Main Event in Barcelona for €3,360 and was unveiled as a new ambassador for GTOWizard.

Following her latest win, Okamoto said, “My very first spade trophy! I’m beyond happy to win, especially at EPT — one of my absolute favorite events!”

Okamoto is mortal, though. After her win, she jumped into the €1,650 Women’s High Roller on Saturday but busted shy of the money, alongside PokerStars ambassador Maria Konnikova.

However, it’s not over. She’s fired a second bullet and is now in sixth place, behind chip leader Sylwia Studniarz. Can she continue her 2025 heater and bag two trophies in two days?
