In case you missed it, we’re sending a lucky reader to EPT Prague this December with a ticket to the €5,300 Main Event, free flights and hotel accommodation.
For a chance to win, all you need to do is choose three players to represent your team in the EPT Barcelona Main Event, taking place from August 22-29. The more they win, the more points you get, with our leaderboard winner bagging the free poker trip of a lifetime.
You’ve got until August 24 to create your team — click below for more details.
The EPT Barcelona Main Event regularly draws over 1,500 runners, so picking the right trio to go all the way is a big feat.
But hey, that’s why there’s a big prize.
We’ve already got a collection of Pick 3 strategy articles to help give you an edge in the contest, but when it comes to figuring out who’s going to win the Main in Spain it makes sense to check out the form.
Let’s take a look at a few players who have already found success at EPT Barcelona, and could do so again.
Main Event winners
Starting with the big one — the Main Event itself — the past few years have thrown up some decent choices, each of which have already been there, done that.
Last year’s winner, and reigning champ, Thomas Eychenne is no flash-in-the-pan. The man from Lyon in France won $1.4M here in 2025, but has combined tournament winnings of over $5.7M. These include scores for runner-up finishes at EPT Paris and EPT Monte Carlo, as well as several WSOP final tables.
You can read more about Eychenne in our look at three red hot players for your EPT Barcelona Pick 3 team.
The year before, Stephen Song of the USA was the 2024 champion. Song has a WSOP bracelet, several WSOP Circuit rings, has won the WPT Prime Main Event and also tasted success in EPT Barcelona side events.
His $1.4M victory in Spain remains his career-best score, so he’s sure to have fond memories of Barcelona — and be keen to make some more.
While no one has ever won two EPT Barcelona Main Events, you don’t need to pick the winner to top our leaderboard — just three players who know what it takes to go deep under the lights of the Catalan TV tables. And these two have gone as deep as it’s possible to go.
The American crew
The European Poker Tour is a truly international affair, but the USA remains the birthplace of poker. Those playing under the star-spangled banner have tasted glory in Spain on multiple occasions.
Run down the final tables from last year’s Barcelona series and you’ll find the following all-American names.
- Adam Hendrix
- Aram Zobian
- Brock Wilson
- Byron Kaverman
- David Coleman
- Faraz Jaka
- Jesse Lonis
- Jesse Yaginuma
- Jeremy Ausmus
- Matthew Wantman
- Nick Palma
- Nick Petrangelo
If you’re based in the USA, or watch US-focused poker content, you’re more likely to recognize a lot of these names than others in the field. They’re all experienced WSOP players, and you may well already follow a lot of them on social media.
If so, do they seem locked in to you?
Each is capable of making big waves, wherever in the world they play.
International superstars
Turning our focus away from US shores, there are plenty of global stars expected at EPT Barcelona who also recorded great results here last year.
Punnat Punsri is a Thai superstar — and reigning GPI Player of the Year — who knows just what the view is like from the winner’s podium in Barcelona.
2025 saw him collect the €179K win in the €10K Mystery Bounty, cash for €319K more in the €100K Super High Roller, a further €59K in a €25K side event, and €347K more for a runner-up finish in yet another €25K hold’em tourney.
Punsri finished second there to Samuel Mullur, a young Austrian high roller with serious EPT pedigree. Mullur’s fellow Austrian Klemens Roiter also made five final tables at last year’s series.
The Live Leaguers
Finally, if you’re looking for players most likely to show up at EPT Barcelona — both physically and in terms of bringing their A-Game — it’s a good idea to check out the final standings of the 2025 PokerStars Live League.
As it sounds, these are league tables that track performances across the EPT and PokerStars Open events in Europe, and reveal a list of successful players who are known to attend plenty of events — and win while they’re there.
You’ll find the final standings of the 2025 PokerStars Live League right here.
Our Pick 3 for EPT Barcelona Main Event is available to enter for free right now. The winner will receive a package worth €8K to play the EPT Prague Main Event in December, with more prizes for the rest of the top 10.
