There's no denying that it's a good time to be a poker player in Canada.
While the close of a record-breaking summer for online poker players in Ontario, Canada arrives, the hits just keep on coming and PokerStars players have plenty of reasons to get excited about the onset of autumn – 2,000,000 of them to be exact.
From September 12-29, the Championship of Online Poker (COOP) returns to the Canadian province for a geographically-exclusive series packed with dozens of tournaments and a $2M series guarantee.
With buy-ins ranging from $20 to $2,500, there's an event on the schedule for all players and COOP offers a chance to compete exclusively against your fellow Ontarians for the prestige that comes with a COOP title.
A trio of Ontario-only Main Events
While there are 99 title events to choose from, the three Main Events are the crown jewels of the Ontario COOP schedule. Each of the Main Events kicks off on September 28, and with varying buy-in levels for each of the Main Events all players can get in on the action.
- $50 COOP Mini Main Event – $45,000 GTD
- $300 COOP Main Event-M – $175,000 GTD
- $2,500 COOP High Roller Main Event – $150,000 GTD
In March of 2025, Ontario-based PokerStars players had to fight for SCOOP glory against players from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but this time around it's a Canadian contest through and through.
PokerOrg Player Advisory Board Member Jim Reid recently outlined his reasons as to why Canada should be your next poker destination. Reid's list makes for a convincing argument on its own – but with an exclusive COOP series on the near horizon, the list grows longer.
Reid will continue to bring readers stories from the great northern beyond as part of PokerOrg Canada.
