Now that the WSOP is in the record books, we want to know what the players made of it all – the highs and lows, bad beats and good times, and the most crazy, wild, and surprising moments that happened this summer.
Christina 'Baby Shark' Gollins is a regular on the tournament grind and is closing in on $1M in career cashes. She has won two WSOP Circuit events, including the opening $600 event at the Commerce Casino. You can follow Christina on X.
What was your best WSOP experience this year?
I put the winner of a bankroll challenge my boyfriend Elvis and I did last year into the Main Event for the very first time. He won our giveaway last year, which won him a $20k bankroll to play anything he wanted for this year's WSOP.
Playing the Main was always his dream, and although he busted at the end of Day 1A, he still had a blast. We were so happy to be able to make someone's lifelong dream come true.
What was the craziest thing you saw in Vegas this summer?
The craziest thing I saw was in the ladies' restroom inside the Golden Nugget. A couple of showgirls were inside changing outfits but were mostly naked and doing their makeup.
For whatever reason, a homeless-looking woman, probably in her 70s, felt the need to strip down as well and started cleaning the bathroom sinks and offering paper towels to girls to wipe their hands with. She basically looked like a working custodian but wasn’t employed and was butt-naked.
While washing my hands, I made a concerted effort to watch the faces of every woman walking in the bathroom, but I couldn’t hold back a giggle every time. It could only happen at the Nugget.
How could the WSOP improve things?
Regarding bagging for a tournament, many structure sheets read, "Plays until X number of levels or X percent, whichever is later.” This should be changed to whichever comes first.
WSOP is the only one that does this later, which makes sense because of the larger field sizes. However, these tournaments can easily go until 3am, which is especially unfortunate for those bagging the last flight and needing to return at 10am the next day.
Which leads me to my second bitch, I mean request. Tournaments should never restart at 10am. The earliest should be 11am but 10am is just rude.
Last one. Am I the only one who thinks playing the hometown anthem of the bracelet winner in the middle of the tournament is cringe? The ceremony is nice, but the anthem is too much. If we didn’t do the anthem, they could announce the winner during play and not hold up action. These tournaments are long enough.
OK. I’m done bitching.
