Daniel Negreanu's World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event run may have come to an end, but the summer series isn't over quite yet for the Canadian.

On Thursday, he jumped into the action in the $50,000 High Roller NLH. After ten levels of play, his 300K starting stack had swelled to over 1 million – positioning him just outside the Top 10 stacks headed into Day 2 play later today.

Daniel Rezaei holds the chip lead for the moment with just north of 2M, followed closely by Paulius Vaitiekunas on 1.9M. Thomas Boivin rounds out the podium with 1.5M.

With only a few events remaining on the schedule, Negreanu has a chance to not only win his second bracelet of the summer and add further to his seven-figure profits, but also to further the gap between his team and the field in the 25K Fantasy competition.

After making a big bet on himself, Negreanu has a shot to essentially lock up a first-place finish for his team should he walk away from the $50K High Roller with a significant haul of points.

Hall of Fame nominee battling the high rollers

Negreanu and the other high roller wizards aren't the only notables in the field.

Isai Scheinberg, one of this year's eight nominees for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, has cobbled together a workable stack to take into Day 2 play. With just shy of 800K in the bag, Scheinberg is squarely in the middle of the pack and he'll have his work cut out for him as he battles onwards in a field replete with crushers and big names.

In the video below, Negreanu can be seen taking a moment to welcome Scheinberg – and perhaps tipping his hand in regards to his vote for the Poker Hall of Fame.

Scheinberg has been nominated for the honor seven times, but remains on the outside looking in. Is this the year we see one of the poker community's most-deserving names enter the Hall of Fame?

Let's hope so.

Other notables in the Day 2 field include: Eelis Parssinen (1.4M), Bill Klein (1.3M), Kristen Foxen (1.2M), Bryn Kenney (1.0M), Cary Katz (815K), Ren Lin (590K), Jeremy Ausmus (480K), Martin Kabrhel (350K), and Liv Boeree (235K).
