After running rampant throughout the year to earn the PokerGO Tour (PGT) 2024 Player of the Year title, Jeremy Ausmus appeared somewhat incapable of missing the money in any event at the PokerGO Studio. It was as though the venue had become Ausmus' home ground – providing him with no shortage of run good and favorable circumstances.

Then he parlayed the prestigious accolade into a first-place prize in the 2024 PGT Championship and it looked as though his dominance would continue into the new year.

Throughout 2025, however, Ausmus' supposed home ground hasn't been quite as welcoming and his results have failed to mirror the success he experienced last year. While his 21 cashes, one victory, and $1,001,291 in earnings are nothing to sneeze at, he has failed to accumulate a sufficient amount of PGT points to earn his place in the Top 40 and will not have the opportunity to defend his title in the 2025 PGT Championship.

On Day 1 of Super High Roller Bowl X, audiences caught yet another glimpse of Ausmus' turned tides as he suffered a nightmare of a beat to exit the $100,000 buy-in event. It's a hand that will no doubt make the cut in Ausmus' newly-launched vlog series – and a perfect contender for the PokerOrg Hand of the Week.

$100K incinerated by one-outer

When the cameras picked up the action, Ausmus was facing a three-bet raise on a flop. With against Thomas Boivin's , he was a 95% favorite to win the hand. Ausmus took his time, possibly trying to quiet the inner excitement at the prospect of scooping a massive pot in the early goings, but eventually made the call.

In what has likely become all too familiar fashion, Ausmus' perceived lock on the hand deteriorated entirely as the slid in on the turn – a one-outer to improve Boivin to quads – and left the American in need of a one-outer himself. Boivin continued for another chunky bet and Ausmus called once again to bring in the river.

With 351,000 (87.75 BB) in the middle and about half of that remaining in Ausmus' stack, Boivin moved all-in. Ausmus took a moment to quickly look back at his cards, but put the chips in without hesitation – only to see the bad news as Boivin rolled over the winner by one-outer.
