The Asian Poker Tour (APT) marks its 20th anniversary this year and now has even more reason to celebrate with the news of an exclusive global partnership with PokerOrg.
As official media partner, PokerOrg will be working closely with the APT to bring to life the many stories, characters, action, and excitement from the world's fastest-growing poker tour.
This will begin with coverage of the APT Taipei series, starting this week, and will continue across the remaining tour stops in 2026.
These include two tournament series in Korea — APT Incheon in August and APT Jeju in September/October — as well as the tour’s grandstand finish back in Taipei for the APT Championship in November.
This blockbuster series will end the 2026 APT season in style, as it did in 2025 when it broke numerous records for the tour that was originally founded in 2006.
APT Championship returns with another $5M GTD Main Event
The inaugural APT Championship last November set various new high watermarks, including most series entries (28,265), richest non-main event prizepool ($2.4M in the High Roller Championship), and richest satellite tournament (an incredible $585K).
But the headline news at the 2025 APT Championship surrounded its Main Event, a $5M GTD freezeout that poker legend Erik Seidel dubbed ‘Asia’s Main Event.'
A guarantee of $5M — and in a freezeout, with no re-entries permitted — was a clear signal to the world that the APT is now one of the premier poker tours not just in Asia, but on the global stage.
That message was backed up in emphatic fashion as 671 unique entries created a prizepool of $6.2M, with a huge $1.2M going to its eventual winner, Nishant Sharma of India.
That $5M GTD freezeout format will be returning in 2026, with the series running once again at Taipei’s Red Space events center from November 13-29. And PokerOrg will be there to bring you all the action, wherever you are.
Ahead of that $5M GTD Main Event later this year, $10K seats are being awarded for deep runs at other APT series throughout 2026.
Bringing players inside the rail
The appetite and the interest — and importantly, the prizepools — are there to make a visit to the APT well worth a trip for players across the US and the world.
The tour has been growing at breakneck speed since a relaunch under new ownership in 2023, and, as PokerOrg’s Eric Hollreiser says, we’re all set to supercharge that growth even more.
“APT has been one of the most important stories in poker for several years, but much of the global audience hasn’t experienced it yet,” says Hollreiser. “This partnership changes that, not by reporting on APT from the outside, but by bringing players inside it and making it matter to a global audience.”
The partnership gives us a better chance to focus on and represent the voice of the players on the tour, including a dedicated content hub on the site. Watch out for that, coming soon, and look out too for the return of our Pick 3 contest, which challenges you to select a team of three players that you think will excel during a tournament series.
Players earn you points, with the winner bagging a live poker package. A Pick 3 contest for the APT Championship will be available at PokerOrg later this year.
“PokerOrg is the gold standard in poker media, so bringing them on as our Official Media Partner is a natural fit,” says Fred Leung, CEO of the Asian Poker Tour. “Their values around integrity and how they approach the game are fully aligned with APT.”
Stay tuned to PokerOrg for plenty more from the APT this year, starting later this week with coverage of APT Taipei.
