PokerStars USA is continuing its ongoing "Road to PSPC" promotional campaign in October with three live events in Pennsylvania that will award the winning player a travel-and-seat Platinum Pass valued at $30,000, to participate in the PSPC (PokerStars Players Championship) in the Bahamas in January 2023.
Among the three October tourneys are a special ladies-only event at Live! Casino Philadelphia on October 8-9 that will ensure one female player from the event makes the trip to Nassau. The ladies-only event this weekend also features a specially reduced buy-in of $200, as compared with the normal $360 live-event buy-in for other Road to PSPC qualifiers. The Platinum Pass package, as with all live Road to PSPC events, is awarded in addition to the tournament's standard prize pool.
Live! Casino Philadelphia will also host the largest of the three October PSPC feeders, which runs October 13-16. This $360 buy-in tourney is open to everyone and also features a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.
From there, the Road to PSPC tour travels west, across the state to suburban Pittsburgh. Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Greensburg will host the third and final PSPC-awarding event of the month, in another $360 NLHE tournament that will run October 27-30, 2020. This event does not carry a prize-pool guarantee, in contrast to the Live! Philadelphia main event.
Being live events, these Road to PSPC qualifiers are open to all players regardless of their state or country of residence. That contrasts with the Platinum Passes being awarded online through the PokerStars Pennsylvania site, which are open only to residents of Pennsylvania or to other players willing to travel constantly to the state to participate in the online Road to PSPC leaderboard chase which will award another travel package to its winner.
PokerStars has previously announced that three additional travel packages would be awarded to the winners of three freerolls offered in conjunction with PokerStars "COOP" (Championship of Online Poker) series, run concurrently in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey. Hundreds of top finishers in the COOP leaderboards for the three single-state series were invited to the freeroll, with the three Platinum Passes -- one per state -- as the top prize.
All told, PokerStars USA will award over 100 Platinum Passes to January's PSPC as part of its global promotion of the PokerStars Players Championship. The $25,000 buy-in PSPC now runs as part of the relaunched PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, which dates all the way back to 2004, but had been on hiatus since 2019 while Stars re-imagined and reinvigorated the Bahamas-based festival.
